America’s largest day of doing good drew the interest and energy of a large group of volunteers in Southern Nevada. More than 60 volunteers trekked the rocky and steep terrain of the Upper Las Vegas Wash Conservation Transfer Area in North Las Vegas on November 17, 2007 for Make a Difference Day.
Take Pride in America in Southern Nevada Project Manager Doug Joslin noted that the targeted area had been used by paint ballers in recent years, who left behind trash and debris. The volunteers worked four hours to remove 84 cubic yards of waste. Tires, cable spools, and appliances were among the trash requiring extra effort by the dedicated volunteers. Joslin said the terrain made the work difficult and all volunteers should be proud for making this clean-up event a success.
