On May 2, 2009, fifteen volunteers from the public joined 45 Dr. William H. "Bob" Bailey Middle School volunteers and Mojave Max to celebrate National Public Lands Day a little early. The 60 volunteers were able to continue the ongoing efforts of Bailey Middle School by removing an additional 28 cubic yards of trash from the Great Unconformity area. Bailey Middle School, the first Take Pride in America School, adopted The Great Unconformity area five years ago and has continued to keep this area clean. Their efforts were recently recognized by being awarded the 2009 National Take Pride in America National Award - School Program category for their commitment to the Great Unconformity area. |
